We developed a "Product Knowledge Agent" using Microsoft Copilot Studio, integrated directly into Microsoft Teams and the M365 Copilot environment. Rather than giving the agent open-ended internet access, it is grounded exclusively in a curated SharePoint knowledge base of internal training documents, product manuals, and approved communications materials.
Every response is source-cited, allowing representatives to verify the provenance of any answer instantly. Critically, the agent enforces strict safety guardrails at the model level, it is architecturally prevented from offering clinical advice, making therapeutic claims, or providing information about off-label applications, regardless of how a question is phrased.
This approach gave the sales team a tool they could use with confidence in any customer-facing scenario, knowing that every answer is both accurate and compliant.
